How do spray patterns and recoil function in CS2?

Every weapon follows a predetermined recoil pattern that repeats identically on each spray. The initial two or three rounds land close to your crosshair, after which the grouping rises and drifts laterally in a fixed sequence. Mastering compensation means pulling your aim downward and side-to-side in the mirror image of that pattern.
